Mary Rogers was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She began her dance training at a young age at Dance Gallery, where she trained in an array of styles such as Classical Ballet, Cecchetti, Jazz, Contemporary, and Modern. Soon after starting dance, Mary’s love for movement deepened. During her summers, Mary attended dance intensives at The Rock School, Kaatsbaan, Hubbard Street, and American Dance Festival. After graduating, Mary continued her dance education at the SUNY Purchase Dance Conservatory, NY. While at SUNY, Mary has found a love for Composition and Improvisation, along with performance. During her time at SUNY, Mary has performed works by Anna Maria Lucaciu, Rosalind Newman,Ohad Naharin, Doug Varone, and MICHIYAYA. Mary also spent a semester in the Netherlands, studying at Amsterdam University of the Arts. While in Amsterdam, Mary performed works created by Amos Bental and Nicole Buetler. Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and is now a freelance dancer and teacher in New York City. Mary has taught in studio settings, workshops, and residences, as well as hosting her own workshops.
