Emma Maurer is a nonbinary dance artist based in Brooklyn, NYC. Emma is trained in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, dance improvisation, and composition. They also have classroom and performance experience with tap, African diaspora dance styles, Latin dance styles, and swing dance. They grew up in Pennsylvania, where they attended Mercersburg Academy and received a rigorous dance and arts education. They earned their BA in dance from DeSales University, where they have rehearsed and performed in works by Martha Graham and Paul Taylor. Much of Emma’s time the past couple of years have been focused on dance education. Emma is passionate about encouraging students to find their own artistic voices by learning dance technique while also engaging in creative exploration. Emma is excited for their first year as a teaching artist at Notes in Motion.
