Matthew Holliday is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, and arts administrator whose work explores Black cultural expression, memory, healing, and community through movement. Blending Afro-diasporic dance forms with jazz and modern technique, his choreographic practice centers embodied storytelling and the transformative power of movement.
Matthew graduated from Amherst College with degrees in Theater & Dance and Black Studies, where he completed an honors thesis in choreography that received the Raymond Keith Bryant Award for Best Performance of the 2018–2019 academic year. During his time at Amherst, he performed in repertory works including Camille A. Brown's New Second Line and Bill T. Jones' Story/Time, and served as Artistic Director of the college's premier hip-hop team, Dance and Step at Amherst College (DASAC).
Since graduating, Matthew has continued to develop work as both a performer and choreographer. He has performed with Subira vs. Movement at The Armory in Somerville, Massachusetts, and created his first commissioned solo work for the Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy. His most recent choreographic work, (Re)birth, focuses on finding our footing again when we’ve fallen off track.
