Danae Williams (she/they) is a versatile and dynamic dance artist and educator from Harlem, NYC. Her journey with dance has been a mix of self-teaching, afterschool programs, and college-level training. Their primary genre of dance is Hip-Hop as it represents a culturally significant staple of her hometown. Though with an open mind and heart, she has embraced and gained experience in other styles such as Contemporary/Modern, Step, Jazz, Afro-Brazilian, Afro-Caribbean, House, Bharatanatyam, and Javanese. As a graduate from Wesleyan University and current graduate student in NYU Steinhardt’s Dance Education Program, Danae strives to continuously ground herself in a reflective pedagogical practice that is centered in healing, confidence, and social interaction between people and communities and infused with her expanding dance technique.
