Nia Pretto is a recent graduate of Towson University with a BFA Performance and Choreography and a BS in Exercise Science. She began her movement journey at 3-years old at Miss Carol’s School of Dance in Piscataway, New Jersey. Mia has experience in various styles of dance such as tap, jazz, latin dance and pre-ballet. While in middle school, Nia started training in ballet and pointe at the American Repertory Ballet and also pursued her love of singing by joining the Princeton Girl Choir.
Nia recently participated in an arts administration internship with the Bates Dance Festival where she trained with Duane Lee Holland, Shakia Barron, Kimani Fowlin, Kevin Iega Jeff, and Gesel Mason. Nia enjoys social dances such as Samba, Lindy Hop, Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, and Zouk dance and she hopes to bring these dance forms into the higher education and concert dance space.
Nia is currently dancing with Huracan Salsa Dance company and is also a teaching artist serving many communities throughout the east coast.
