Brittany Leticia Wright, teaching artist

As a recipient of the Franklin and Alice Cooley Scholarship for Fine Arts, Brittany Wright trained in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Horton, and contemporary technique under teachers including Linda Denise Fisher-Harrell, Vincent Thomas, Rob Priore, Alan Obuzor, Stanislav Issaev, and Andrea Renee Long-Naidu, before going on to earn her BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography from Towson University in 2021.
Her dance training began at Berrend Dance Center in Olney, Maryland, under Patricia Berrend, formerly with Ballett Hamburg and the Washington Ballet, and that foundation carried into a teaching career of her own, one that now spans nearly ten years across ballet, Horton, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, tap, and creative movement. She got her start at Hope Garden Ballet Academy in Poolesville, Maryland, and has since taught in under-resourced schools in Philadelphia as well as suburban schools throughout Maryland and New Jersey, along with The School of Philadelphia Ballet, Philadanco, and City Dance Conservatory, and has returned to her alma mater, Towson University, to lead masterclasses. Some of her most formative teaching has happened in spaces with limited resources, where she learned to build a full class out of nothing more than a room, some chairs, and imagination. That resourcefulness still shapes her approach in the classroom today. Building in space for students to contribute their own movement ideas and reflect thoughtfully on their peers' work is not incidental to her teaching; it is central to it. At the same time, she believes creative freedom means the most when it is built on a real technical foundation, so she holds her students to genuine skill-building even as she makes room for their own voice and expression.
Alongside her teaching, Brittany was a principal dancer with Philadanco, The Philadelphia Dance Company, from 2021 to 2026, performing repertory by choreographers including Rennie
Harris, Jawole Zollar, Ray Mercer, George Faison, Christopher Huggins, Milton Myers, and Juel D. Lane. She previously danced with the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company.
